Catalog Full Description
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is designed to prepare leaders for the nursing profession who have expertise in advanced nursing practice with an individual specialization. The DNP Program is consistent with the overall mission of the School of Nursing which is to prepare nursing leaders who can facilitate quality health care for our nation. The Dual Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner (AGNP/FNP) track prepares nurse practitioners to provide primary care and case management services for adolescents, adults, and older adults, including frail older adults and their families, as well as individuals and families throughout the lifespan from birth through end of life. Graduates are eligible for dual certification as Nurse Practitioners in the state of California and national certification by ANCC or AANP as Primary Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioners (AGNPs) and Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs).
Graduates are eligible to sit for certification as a:
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) and
Family Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified (FNP-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), or
Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified (FNP-C) through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB)
