Catalog Full Description
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is built upon the baccalaureate degree with an upper-division focus in nursing. The program emphasizes research, theory, and practice. The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track provides a foundation in the theoretical underpinnings of advanced nursing practice with pediatrics, adolescents, adults, older adults, and their families with psychiatric mental health conditions. The program builds on an advanced practice nursing core curriculum of pathophysiology, physical assessment and diagnosis, and pharmacology, with additional coursework in psychopharmacology and common psychotherapeutic modalities.
Graduates are eligible for certification as Nurse Practitioners in the state of California and national certification by ANCC as Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs).
